ANDUMA
CISTERNA D’ASTI - PIEDMONT
Anduma is a project delivering authentic, high-quality Piemontese wines as an introduction to the region and its all-star native grape varieties. We collaborate to deliver this set of classics, working with friends who maintain an (almost) 200 year old traditional family winery halfway between Asti and Alba. The quality:price ratio is superb, with each wine vibrantly showcasing grape variety and origin.
Il Fiume and Quattro Colli
Traditionally aged in large Slavonian oak, Il Fiume is from Neive in Barbaresco, and Quattro Colli, La Morra. The DOCG awarded wines are then transferred to the cellar in Cisterna d’Asti for further refinement in untoasted tonneaux, bottle or both (depending on vintage). They are wonderful examples of these villages and represent incredible value for money.
THE WINES
Anduma 'Primavera' Roero Arneis DOCG
Classic Arneis showing white flowers, restrained citrus and light white fruits. It is friendly and elegant with texture, vital acidity and a snappy finish. For lovers of Riesling and zippy, fresh whites!
Anduma Langhe DOC Nebbiolo
The best starting place for Langhe Nebbiolo in the market. This has all the hallmarks: perfumed aromatics, pure red fruits, faded flowers and strict yet well-handled tannin. Real Nebbiolo under $40 RRP.
"Lively and bright expression of Nebbiolo here. It’s all juicy raspberry and redcurrant, a smattering of dried roses and dried herbs, plus slivered almonds. Medium-bodied, energetic, with a redcurrant and cranberry crunch, chalky tannin grip, fresh strawberry dusted with pepper on a crunchy finish. Has a certain coolness and dusty alpine character, but gee, it’s a nice frisky thing to drink. Value!" Gary Walsh - The Wine Front
Anduma 'Il Fiume' Barbaresco DOCG
A beautiful starting point for those who want to see what, and where, Barbaresco is. Expressive, traditional and elegant wine from the village of Nieve, this Nebbiolo has classic anise, tobacco and red cherry fruit character. Brilliant value.
Anduma 'Quattro Colli' Barolo DOCG
A steal for the $, this is traditionally made Barolo from La Morra showing spice, leather and pressed flowers. With elegant tannin structure and extra ageing in un-toasted tonneaux, nicely framing the pretty fruit. Traditional, effortless Barolo village wine. Delicious stuff.
