ITALy’S NEBBIOLO TERROIRS

There’s a lot more to this noble grape variety than Barolo. From the finesse of Carema to the mystique of Valli Ossolane and the stature of Gattinara, Nebbiolo’s accents are fascinating and varied. Our producers are the beating heart of these appellations and a must for any lover of Nebbiolo and Italian wine.

Capable of expressing the purest essence of site, vintage and producer style, Nebbiolo is without question one of the world’s elite red grapes. Skyrocketing prices and soaring demand make it increasingly difficult for consumers to find the best Barolos and Barbarescos. But the glories of Nebbiolo stretch far beyond those prestigious appellations.

Alpine WIne – Valle d’aosta & Alto Adige

Mountain wine treasures. The influence of the Alps on Italian wine is huge. All across the north of the country they loom large, dictating weather patterns with both risks (hail) and rewards (cooling effect). Our search for old wine culture takes us to remote villages and mountain valleys, inspired by the small-scale growers with rare and unusual grape varieties and dialects to match.

*We have bundled alpine Nebbiolo-based appellations like Valtellina, Carema, Valli Ossolane and Alto Piemonte, under our Nebbiolo Terroirs section although they are either in the Alps themselves or heavily impacted by them.
